Orderly, efficient, and often, void of wonder.
Islamic education is usually tied to a curriculum: lessons are planned to cover 'Islamic Studies' topics, textbooks are designed to hit specific outcomes, and little room is left for curiosity beyond the syllabus.
So what is there - besides books (and more books) or board games that need a crowd - for young Western Muslims to truly engage with their Islamic heritage?
Tameli Studio was founded to answer that question.
Designed by local Melburnian teachers trained in the Islamic Sciences, they bring together rigorous knowledge and playful, independent learning. Here, children can explore Islamic heritage in a way that’s subtle, engaging, and - of course - cognitively stimulating (because, yes, you can’t fully take the teaching out of a teacher).
Each jigsaw puzzle is carefully crafted to tell a story and spark curiosity. The current range includes still-lifes of masjids from around the world, highlighting their diverse architecture; a returning Hajji’s room unpacking luggage, illustrating the journey of Hajj without fiqh books; and a backyard scene of Qur’anic plants, waiting to be discovered leaf by leaf.

The name “Ta'meli” comes from the Arabic ta’ammali — “contemplate.” Every puzzle is an invitation to pause, observe, and delight in the beauty and wisdom woven through Islamic heritage.
